She has published innumerable children's books and won frequent awards for her illustrations.

Early life

Lessac grew up in Cliffside Greensward, New Jersey, a small metropolis outside New York City. Whilst a child, she spent multitudinous weekends in museums and galleries. At the age of 18 she moved to Malibu, Calif., to study ethnographic film battle the University of Southern Calif.
